Universal Commerce Protocol Readiness
A concise guide to UCP discovery profiles, services, capabilities and transport declarations.
Why it matters
UCP uses a discovery profile at /.well-known/ucp so a business can advertise protocol version, services, capabilities and payment-handler information. Services can declare bindings such as REST, MCP, A2A or embedded transports.
How it works
Capabilities describe features such as checkout, cart, order or extensions. Implementations should keep declarations truthful: advertising a capability is useful only when the corresponding service actually implements it.
Practical takeaway
Agenticommerce Phase 1 performs static profile validation and does not initiate checkout sessions or call a merchant API.
